AdSense on Squidoo - Can You Remove It?

Every week I get the same question - "Can you tell me how to remove the AdSense on my Squidoo lens?" Some people hate having AdSense anywhere online - while others just don't want their competitor's ads showing up on web 2.0 pages they've carefully built to promote their own products and services (that makes sense)!
Those AdSense ads on Squidoo might bother you, but if you're looking for a way to get rid of them, you can't. They're there for a reason and truth be told, they don't cause many click-outs if your content is engaging enough to keep your readers onsite.
AdSense on Squidoo is how Squidoo makes money (and keeps their service free to you and me), so actually those ads are a necessity. Here's the really good news about that: you can make money from those ads!
AdSense on Squidoo is set up as a co-op revenue stream, so if someone clicks and buys from an ad they see on one of your lenses, you get a percentage of the income. This takes the sting out a bit, but how else can you keep your readers' eyes away from AdSense ads on your lens?
You want your visitors to pay more attention to your lens and the content than the ads, so here are a few things you can do to ensure that the AdSense on Squidoo doesn't overwhelm everything else:
1.) Use eye-catching graphics and images. Long images show up in full length while wider images get cropped, if you're using the old text module or adding an image to an introduction module. Log onto istockphoto to find relevant niche images that are only $1 a pop. Try the new Text with Big Picture module if you want your images to show up even more or host the images on your server and align them to the left or right of your text.
2.) Use lots of interesting and interactive modules. People like to participate - this is the world of web 2.0, isn't it - where peer-to-peer takes precedence over pitch page. Add polls, Plexo modules, and a guestbook to keep them stuck on your page and not clicking on the AdSense on Squidoo lenses. If you use YouTube, only have 1 video per module or else they have to click out.
3.) Try a new twist on an old topic. The more boring you are, the higher the chance your reader will click out somewhere else - probably to your competitors who can afford an AdSense campaign that hijacks your readership.

For example, you could create a package about ad sense. Stop trying to convince them that you didn't use MFA (Made for AdSense) sites. Currently there are three different ad formats available on AdSense: AdSense for Content - displays ads (in text or banners, or both) on your page depending on your content/sea/links/and a lot more stuff, just to define what the hell your page is really about AdSense for Search - A very smart little search bar integration letting your visitors search Google and your site - while you get paid per search.
Google AdSense - this is my personal favorite. Because the AdSense program displays advertisements that are so closely related to the website content, it is advantageous to webmasters because the advertisements are actually of interest to website visitors. The chances that someone will visit your site and click on your ad sense ads will increase. The idea to patterning the colors is to make the AdSense look like it is part of the web pages.
If or when you are removed or fined by Google for AdSense abuse, make sure you send copies of your IP address reports along with your re-inclusion request. Bog sites like Bolger (owned by Google) even encourages you to use the "ad sense code" in your bogs. Not necessarily how it applies strictly to Ad Words and AdSense, but to the world in general. I have a high traffic web site and yet my AdSense earnings have plummeted.

AdSense - A Guide

AdSense is a content-targeted ad system that allows you to quickly and easily display ads on your site that are relevant to your site's content. Google, the owner of AdSense, pays you each time a user clicks on one of your Ads.
AdSense is easy to set up, but unless you know what you're doing, nobody will click on your ads. Follow these guidelines to ensure your AdSense Success:
Traffic
Just because you make a website and put some ads on it doesn't mean that anyone will come to your website (never mind click on your ads!). The first thing that your site will need is traffic.
Quality
Your site doesn't have to be professionally designed, but the content on your site needs to be something that users can enjoy. Some of the most popular websites on the internet feature weak design, but the traffic keeps pouring in, because those websites have quality content. Making a website for the sole purpose to have ads, and then adding content later is the wrong way to do it. Try to create your website, add content, and then think about adding some ads.
A Reason to Return
Users need a good reason to return to your website, and you need to provide one. If you're able to have users come back to your site even if they've already been to your site, your site's traffic will increase, which means that in the long run, more of your ads will be clicked. To have users return to your site, your site either needs to be a site with a lot of information so that the user sees your site as a resource, or your site needs to have constantly updating content such as a blog or a news section.
Another great way to get more traffic is to use mailing lists. However, make sure that you collect your own mailing lists, and that the users on the lists have agreed to be on it. With these legitimate mailing lists, you can freely remind the people on your lists to come back to your site by introducing new content and mailing the people on your list about the new content.
How Your Ads Should Look
If you want people to click on your Ads, you need to make sure that your Ads look the way they should.
Blend
One of the worst mistakes that websites with Ads make is that the Ads do not look like part of the site. People have been desensitized to Advertisements on the internet, so if you don't customize your Ads properly, they'll scream "AD - DON'T CLICK HERE" to every visitor. Never use borders, and make sure that the background color of your Ad is the same as the background color that it will be placed on.
Image or Text?
AdSense offers either Text Ads, Image Ads, or both. Text Ads usually get way more clicks (and therefore make more money), because they are seen by users as interesting links rather than banner ads. Sure, image ads get you more money per click, but they're usually never clicked, because users see them as obtrusive advertisements rather than helpful links.
However, if your site doesn't have very many images on it, Image Ads can be a great way to add some color to your site while still making a profit. If this is the case, make sure to use some Image Ads for visual appeal, as well as some Text Ads for profit so that it all evens out.
Ad Placement
Positioning your Ads properly on your website can triple your AdSense income, and arranging your Ads poorly can cut your profits in half.
At the Top of your page
Putting Ads at the top of your page can be a little risky in that it can lower the visual quality of your site, but it's usually a place that users will look to a lot. Just make sure that top-of-the-page ads don't interfere too much with the way your site looks.
Near the Navigation
Users' cursors are always hovering near navigation bars, which is why your ads should be as close as possible to your navigation bar/links. This way the user will have to use minimal effort to click your ads, and their attention is already near the ads.
Inside the Content
If done properly, Ads inside the main content of your site can generate a lot of revenue. You must make sure that you have at least two ads - one or more inside the content, and one at the bottom. This way, as the user is reading their way through your site, they read the Ad that is inside the content. Since they read it inside the content, they will associate it with the content on your site. By the time they get to the bottom of the content, they will have associated the Ads with your site's content, and will be much more comfortable clicking the Ad at the bottom.
